If you don’t already have an unused shoe organizer lying around, all you need for this advent calendar is a numbered stencil set and gold fabric paint! What we like about this advent calendar is you can place gifts of a variety of shapes & sizes in the slots and the calendar will still look great. This allows you flexibility when choosing and wrapping gifts.

Plus, shoe organizers typically come with an easy way to hang them up, so you can practically place them on any wall or behind any door. Get the details on making this calendar here!

Brown Bags

How CUTE are these mystery brown paper bags? You probably already have a chalk board like this lying around, so you basically need string, clothespins, and brown paper bags. We also love the adorable ribbons on the ends of each string! This is such a cute and minimal look for an advent calendar and doesn’t require any wrapping of presents.

Remember that you’ll need a relatively long or wide chalk board to be able to fit all of the brown bags on it!

Clothespins & Envelopes

An even easier alternative to the brown bags – envelopes!! If you have teenagers, this advent calendar is the one for you. It makes it so easy to leave little gift cards in the envelopes or even write a sweet note. You can practically hang these envelopes anywhere – shelves, hallways, doorways, etc. Just number the envelopes and get a festive yarn or string and you’re set!

Stick & Twine

If yohttp://the-thud.com/diy-advent-calendar-pinterest-challenge-1/u really want to get creative & custom with your advent calendar, this is the way to go! A hanging, horizontal stick is a shabby-chic way to add Christmas decor and an advent calendar to any room in your home. When wrapping your presents, try to mix up the patterns and textures of your wrapping paper or gift bags – but try to stick to a color palette so it doesn’t look too messy.

Buy a small gift label to write the date on and tie it to the ribbon when you tie it to the gift. To learn more about how to make this advent calendar, click here.
