Trick or Treating Alternatives Your Kids Will Love

It may be starting to feel that the world is canceling fall.  Fall sports, fall activities, fall back to school, and any other fall fun events. You may be wondering what Halloween is going to look like.  Especially if this is your holiday that you like to go all out.  With all other things put on paused, going out trick or treating maybe another one of those things that will be on pause this year.  Even though this may be canceled, there are still other ways to enjoy Halloween.  Here are some fun trick or treating alternatives to enjoy the Halloween Holiday without going out on the streets.

Outdoor scary movie night

If you have a projector, a screen, or even the side of your garage doors, hosting an outdoor scary movie night on Halloween is the way to go!  You can go super scary with the Freddie Krueger slasher film or for something kid-friendly, Hocus Pocus is always a fun one to do.  Have your guests dress up and socially distance themselves outside with their lawn chairs.  You can supply larger boxed candies for your guests and their own bag of popcorn.

Small Halloween game night party

Is there a group of friends that you have been socially distancing with?  Have them over for a game night.  You can play games such as Hunt a Killer where everyone tries to solve a mystery.  You can even break out the Ouija board and see if you can summon some spirits.  Or you can do fun Halloween games for kids such as tossing the ring on a witch’s hat or playing Halloween Bingo.  Have prizes available to pass around.

Outdoor bonfire of scary ghost stories

Another great alternative to trick or treating is hosting a bonfire outside. Have a flashlight available and have each person take turns telling a ghostly tale.  Tell your guests ahead of time so that they can perfect their story.  Make it into a contest with everyone voting on the best Halloween tale.

Candy scavenger hunt

While you may not be going house to house to collect candy, you still have fun and turn it into a candy scavenger hunt. Hide the candy all-around your house and even outside (just remember where you hid it).  Give clues to your guests about where they may find their treasures!  This will be a delightful game that you may want to play every year.
