Birthday Invitation Wording to WOW Your Guests
Are you trying to get your birthday invitation out there but struggling with the words? Creating an invitation to this special affair can be difficult. The invitation is crucial to a party because it helps set the tone of the event. So the big question is what is the tone of your party? Here are some birthday invitation wording ideas to WOW your guests.
Leading with a laugh
A humorous birthday invitation can tell your guests you are ready to have fun and make the night memorable with many laughs.
You can start the invitation straight to the point with:
“Holy Sh*t! I’m Old!”
Or something a bit more subtle with:
“Aged to Perfection and ready to celebrate their big day”
Another great lead-in line is:
“Cheers & Beers to 45 years.”
Straight to the point
You can’t go wrong when you write something straight to the point. Lead in your invitation with:
“Join us as we celebrate Bob’s 40th birthday!”
Write exactly where the party is and what time the event starts. Make sure you don’t forget the RSVP information, especially if you need to make note of how much food to supply.
Theme it out
Do you have an amazing theme to go along with your birthday party? Include it in your birthday invitation and clearly let them know if you would like them to be active participants in this theme.
An example of this would be a Great Gatsby themed birthday:
“You are invited to get all gussied up to celebrate’s Lisa’s Roaring 20s birthday.”
This will clue your guests in making sure they are dressed to impress in 20s-decade party style.
Here is a list of quick to-dos and not dos to keep in mind when writing a birthday invitation:
Birthday invitation wording ‘Dos’:
- Do add where, when (exact address) and what time the party is.
- If it’s a surprise party, do make sure it is included in the invitation and the exact time guests need to arrive.
- Do use language that matches your theme.
- Do write the name of who you are celebrating.
Birthday invitation wording ‘Don’ts’:
- Don’t make the party information vauge.
- Don’t ask for gifts. It always leaves a bad taste in your guests’ mouths.
- Don’t make requirements. “Highly suggested” is better wording – especially if you are highly suggesting they should come in costume.
